We Moved Bribes In Private Jets To NNPC Officials-Glencore
….Fined £276.4m By UK Court
Fred Omotara, Lagos
A global commodity trading firm, Glencore has admitted moving bribes in private jets to officials of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) to secure favourable crude oil trading contracts.
Glencore subsequently got fined £276.4m by a UK Court for bribing officials in Nigeria.
The judgement was handed down by a UK Judge, Justice Peter Frasier on Thursday afternoon.
Justice Frasier said that Glencore committed corporate corruption on a widespread scale in it’s West African trading desk, deploying very large amounts of money in bribes.
