Nigerian Woman Becomes General In US Army

The Nigerians in the Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) has expressed delight as a woman of Nigerian descent, Amanda Azubuike, has been promoted from Lieutenant Colonel to Brigadier General of the United States Army at a military base in Fort Knox, Kentucky, USA.
NIDCOM in a statement on Friday by its Chairman and CEO, Dr. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, congratulated Azubuike on her new rank adding that Nigeria was proud of her achievement.
Born in London, the United Kingdom, to Nigerian parents, Azubuike joined the US Army in 1994 and became an aviator after passing the Army Aviation Officer Basic Course.
Commenting on her leadership qualities, US Army Futures Command Commander, General James Rainey, stated that Azubuike “makes everyone around her better.”
