HAPPENING NOW: WABOTAN Organises Training For Boat Operators In Lagos

The Waterfront Boat Owners and Transporters Association of Nigeria (WABOTAN) on Saturday organised a training session with the theme: “Boat/Ferry Crew Capacity Development For Safer Inland Waterways Transportation” for boat skippers and operators in Lagos.

The training which had resource persons from the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Lagos State Waterways Android (LASWA), and others in attendance, witnessed a large turn out of boat operators who were apparently eager to learn and improve safety on Nigeria’s Inland waterways.

Notable dignitaries who graced the WABOTAN training session included Assistant Director, District Surveyor of NIMASA, Engineer Patrick Ifeanyi Ike; Head of Marine, NIWA, Elsie Egwatu; Commandant, NPA Fire Service, Ngozi Njokwu; President, Seaman Branch of MWUN, Mr Sunday Avoseh, GM of LASWA, Damilola Emmanuel and Managing Director, Ardent Marine Services, Mr. Jerry Agilo.
As at the time of filing in this report, tbe training session which had already commenced, had an open questions and answers sessions in-between each presentations.
The boat operators and skippers who asked various questions got answers from the resource persons seated during the programme.
