Yinka Olajoyetan, Lagos
The family of late Alhaja Safuratu Mopelola Rufai Alamila has petitioned the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 2 Command of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), over alleged assault and forceful entry into their property by Titi Obadeyi, Omoniyi Obadeyi and Abiola Kareem.
The property at 7, Oguntoye Street, Mushin Lagos State, was said to belong to late Alhaja Rufai after she purchased it from Babajide Obadeyi about 80years ago.
According to the petition dated January 10, 2024 and titled, ‘Complaint Against Ms Omoniyi Obadeyi; Mrs Abiola Kareem; Titi Obadeyi And Others Over Assault, Criminal Intimidation, Forceful Entry With Uniform Personnel, Malicious Damages, And Threat To Life’, and signed by Sulaiman Alamila, Murtala Adejumo and Mrs Mutiat Tiamiyu, the family, said the land measuring 60 by 120, was later ratified through an agreement to make full ownership some years back.
“We wish to bring to your attention on the above subject matter, being the act of criminality and lawlessness which is being perpetrated by the above named persons and cohorts against the Family of Late Alhaja Safuratu Mopelola Rufai Alamila namely Alhaji Sule Alamila; Mr Tajudeen Tiamiyu-; Mr. Muritala Adejumo and Hon. Babatunde Rufai Adejumo, who reside at 44, Agbe Road Abule Egba, Lagos State over property located at No. 7, Oguntoye Street, Mushin Lagos State.
“Sir, we are bonafide citizens of this country, law-abiding and respected individuals in our various career paths, and are the grandchildren of late Alhaja Safuratu Mopelola Rufai Alamila who bought/purchased a plot of land from Baba Jide Obadeyi about 80years ago and later ratified the agreement to make full ownership some years back with the evidence of receipt measuring 60’ by120’ at the above location.”
“Sir, to our utmost surprise on Monday, January 6, 2025, some uniform men numbering over 40, identified to be officials of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and others in Military camouflage and thugs, armed with guns, cutlasses, bottles and other different types of dangerous weapons led by Titi Obadeyi, Omoniyi Obadeyi and Abiola Kareem invaded our building at No. 7, Oguntoye Street, Mushin Lagos State.
“They maliciously destroyed our property and goods worth millions of naira. They harassed, molested and assaulted all tenants. In fact, they beat them blue and black, including our sick brother, Tajudeen Tiamiyu who is currently nursing stroke and just returned from Hospital after several months under intensive care. He was also beaten up, manhandled and they threatened to kill him.”
“This action caused breach of public peace on the streets of Mushin. Sir, in views of these allegations and their criminal intentions, we are appealing to the Nigerian Police Force to critically investigate this matter accordingly in order to save our family inheritance and family from constant harassment, molestation, assault and threat to life by the Obadeyi’s.
*On this note Sir, we are therefore seeking your fatherly intervention to save our lives from the hands of the lawless criminals and ensure that justice is done accordingly. This will serve as deterrent to others. Thanks for giving our petition the urgent attention it deserves,” the family stated.
