SOAN President, IMO Secretary General Attends NIMS Dinner In Efik Traditional Attire

It was fun and glamour when maritime stakeholders gathered at the 2022 Nigerian International Maritime Summit (NIMS) Dinner Night mostly dressed in Nigerian traditional attire. This is even as the Secretary General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Mr. Kitack Lim was dressed in Efik traditional attire by the President of Ship Owners Association of Nigeria (SOAN), Dr. MkGeorge Onyung.
According to details gathered by kadecommunicationng, the Efik traditional attire which were provided for by the Chairman of the Governing Council of NIMS, Dr. Mfon Usoro, was worn on the IMO Secretary General by the President of SOAN to the amazement of many stakeholders present at the NIMS Dinner Night.
The SOAN President who is an Efik High Chief with the title Ada Idaha ke Efik Eburutu), said that if it were outside Nigeria, he can confer a traditional title on the IMO Secretary General with the approval of the Obong of Calabar.
According to the SOAN President, “The Secretary General, HE Kitack Lim was dressed up in the Ibibio traditional Chieftaincy attire by my humble self.
“The cap he wore is called “Itam Nkwa”; the loin cloth he wore is “Ofong Isin”; the traditional tie he was wearing is called “Okponkpong” and the traditional shoes are called “Ikpa Ukot Nkwa.
“At the Gala nite our IMO Secretary General was Christened with following Ibibio names & title; H.E. OBONG TITACK AKPABIO-LIM.”
