Knocks Trail Minister Of Transportation Display Of Ballot Papers After Voting

Fred Omotara, Lagos
The Honourable Minister of Transportation, Muazu Jaji Sambo has been criticised by a section of the media for publicly displaying his ballot papers after voting during the Governorship and State House of Assembly elections held at the weekend, an action that runs contrary to the secret ballot system stipulated under Nigeria’s Electoral system.
Reacting to photos of the Minister showing his ballot papers and the party he voted for, some journalists wondered if the action of the Minister is in accordance with the Electoral Act.
According to Mr. Ray Ugochukwu, a maritime journalist, “Does the Electoral Act permit this?”
Also, another journalist who simply identified himself as Mr. Frank stated that, “Impunity in high places. Shamelessly done.
“What is Wrong, is wrong. If President Buhari did it, and we condemned him, we should also condemn the Hon. Minister for flouting his vote against the secret ballot Guideline of the election.”
Also speaking on the development, another journalist @Kelvin Kagbare explained that, “Posing for the camera with thumb printed ballot papers.
“Enough jobs for lawyers this season.”
