In Ikorodu, Elders Facilitate Release Of Arrested Cultists-Police
Fred Omotara, Lagos
The Lagos State Police Command on Wednesday lamented the growing rate of youths involved in Cultism in Ikorodu area of Lagos. This is even as the Command revealed that when Police apprehend secondary school students over involvement in Cultism, it is the elders in the community who facilitate their release.
In a post on his verified Twitter handle on Wednesday, Spokesman for the Lagos Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin urged community leaders to play a role in getting youths out of Cultism.
According to SP Hundeyin, “Traditional, religious, political, youth leaders, parents, guardians, please play your part by talking youths out of cultism.
“Confirmed cases of youths engaging in cultism is alarming, especially in Ikorodu. Moral values need to be revamped. Security is everyone’s business.”
When a Twitter user, while commenting on Hundeyin’s post, said Cultism in Ikorodu is normal, the Lagos Police Spokesman added that, “Really normal? Oh, is that why elderly ones call me to facilitate the release of secondary school students arrested amongst armed cultists?”
