HAPPENING NOW: Maritime Stakeholders Converge In Lagos For 2022 World Maritime Day Celebration

It was all glitz and glamour on Thursday as maritime stakeholders converged in Lagos for the celebration of the 2022 World Maritime Day which has as it’s theme: New Technologies For Greener Shipping.

The event which started with an opening remark by the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Transportation, Magdalene Ajani saw presentations from the Minister of Transportation, Alhaji Mu’azu Jaji Sambo, Minister of State for Transportation, Ademola Adewole Adegoroye and Heads of maritime agencies like Mohammed Bello-Koko of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Dr. Bashir Jamoh of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Commodore Duja Effedua of the Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Dr. George Moghalu of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) amongst others.

The event also saw the presentation of cash gifts to students of different Nigerian universities who participated in the 2022 NIMASA Essay Competition. The tertiary university students were also rewarded for their excellent performance with a laptop each by the DG of NIMASA, Dr Bashir Jamoh.
Also, students of three primary schools who excelled in the 2022 NIWA Essay Competition were given cash gifts as prizes. The exceptional primary school students were also promised laptops each by the Rector, Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Commodore Duja Effedua.
