Farmers Accuse Bank Of Mismanaging N94.8m Grant In Jigawa

Farmers in Ringim Local Government Area of Jigawa has accused Hasal Microfinance Bank of mismanaging N94.8m grant earmarked as relief for owners of flood ravaged farmlands in Sankara village.
Recall that after the flood of 2022, the Federal Government through the Border Communities Development Agency (BCDA) approved and paid N94.8m to Hasal Microfinance Bank Ltd for the Provision of Grants to Farmers affected by Flood in Sankara, Ringim LGA Jigawa State in the 2023 FG budget.
However, checks by Kadecommunicationng has revealed that many farmers of flood ravaged farmlands have lamented that nothing was given to them by the bank has grant.
“We have not received any grant from Hasal Microfinance Bank. We heard that N94.8m was paid to the bank by the BCDA, but no farmer has benefited from the grant.
“We don’t even know if the fund is still with the bank as we speak. We are using this medium to appeal to BCDA to come to our rescue.
“Most of our farmlands are a relic of what they used to be. We need this grant to revive our farms, but the stringent conditions imposed by the bank as ensured that no farmer got a dime from the fund in 2023,” a cross section of some of the farmers told kadecommunicationng exclusively
