Fred Omotara Lagos
The Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has said that the State will soon ban street begging in the coming months.
In a post on his verified Twitter handle, Governor Obaseki said that linking education with children on the streets will reduce street begging in the State.
According to the Edo State Governor, “I received Muslim faithful who were at the Government House to celebrate the Eid-El Fitr after the successful completion of the Ramadan fast, urging their support in tackling the menace of street begging in the state.
“We believe that basic education is the right for every Edo child; it is their right and it is free and compulsory.
“We will link education with street begging and street children. In the next few months, we will not allow street begging in Edo anymore.”
