CMA CGM Warns Nigerian Importers Over Vandalisation Of Reefer Containers
Yinka Olajoyetan, Lagos
French shipping giant, CMA CGM has warned Nigerian Importers over vandalisation of Reefer Containers, threatening to impose surcharge if the ugly trend persists
In a client advisory released on Wednesday,  the shipping company noted with dismay the increasing numbers of Reefer Containers already vandalised upon return to the port.
According to CMA CGM,  “We have recently observed incidents of damage and vandalism to the refrigerating components of empty reefer containers returned to the port.
“As outlined in CMA CGM’s Bill of Lading, customers are responsible for the care of containers from delivery to their premises until redelivery to the port.
“Please ensure reefer containers are properly secured while in your custody -both during transit and while at your facility.
“CMA CGM will hold the consignee liable for any damage or missing components identified as vandalized upon return.
“Your support is vital in preventing losses and maintaining equipment and supply chain integrity.”
