UPDATED: Eight Dead, 23 Rescued As Three Storey Building Collapses In Lagos

Eight people have been confirmed dead while 23 people have been rescued from the rubble’s of a three Storey Building that collapsed at 24 Ibadan Street (east ) off Muritala Mohammed Way, Ebute Metta, Lagos at exactly 10:56pm of Sunday, May 1st, 2022.
In an update to its situation report by the Spokesman of the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA), Nosa Okunboh, the Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu was quoted as saying that five adult males and three female occupants of the collapsed building were already dead inside the rubble’s while 22 males and one female occupant of same building have been rescued alive.
According to the LASEMA Permanent Secretary, “On arrival at the incident scene, an old 3 storey building comprising rooms and parlour was discovered to have collapsed.
“Further information gathered revealed that the incident occurred at about 10.56pm with as yet undetermined number of people trapped.
“While Search and rescue operation is , ongoing, twenty three people have been rescued alive. Out of the victims rescued, two sustained severe injuries and have been taken to LASUTH for further treatment. Five males and three female occupants of the building have been confirmed dead as at 10:00AM of Monday morning. More updates to follow
