Too Many Families Demanding Compensation Over Ibadan Dry Port Land-NSC

Fred Omotara, Lagos
The Executive Secretary/CEO of the Nigerian Shippers Council (NSC), Honourable Emmanuel Jime has revealed that one of the issues confronting the Ibadan Dry Port is the many claims by different families for compensation over the dry port land.
Addressing journalists recently in Apapa, the NSC Boss however revealed that the Oyo State Government has promised to handle the issue.
According to Honourable Jime, “In this part of the world, hectares of land can remain untouched for years and you won’t see anybody laying claim to it
“But the moment Government shows interest in such land, you will start seeing different families coming forward, saying the land belongs to their fore-fathers.
“That is the situation we found ourselves with the Ibadan Dry Port. So many people keep coming forward, saying the land is theirs.
“As at the last time I visited, the Oyo State Government has assured us that they will handle the issue and settle everybody concerned.”
