Shippers Council Missing As Lekki Port Meets Government Regulatory Agencies

The Nigerian Shippers Council (NSC) was conspicuously missing on Wednesday when the Management of the Lekki Deep Seaport and the ports container terminal operator, Lekki Freeport Terminal met with regulatory agencies of government to discuss their roles and processes ahead of the commencement of trial operations at the port by 2023 Q1.

In a social media post on Thursday by Lekki Deep Seaport LFTZ Enterprises, the list of government agencies present at the meeting includes the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Nigerian Police Force (NPF), Lagos Free Zone, Nigerian Export Processing Zone Authority (NEPZA), Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Department of State Services and Port Health.
According to Lekki Port, the meeting was called to discuss the status of the port, plans for early trial operations and the start of commercial operations in 2023 Q1, and other miscellaneous matters, including office space
