Lagos Shuts Christ Apostolic Church, Others Over Noise Pollution

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) on Tuesday shutdown some churches, bakery and am hotel around Yaba, Ebute-Metta, and Makoko areas of Lagos over noise pollution.
In a statement on its social media handles, LASEPA said the establishments were sealed despite repeated warnings and abatement notices issued in the past.
The LASEPA statement reads: “Today, LASEPA conducted a comprehensive enforcement operation targeting noise pollution and other environmental violations in the Yaba, Ebute-Metta, and Makoko areas of Lagos.
“Despite repeated warnings and abatement notices issued in the past, numerous establishments persisted in flouting LASEPA’s directives. As a result, these non-compliant entities have been temporarily shut down in the overall interest of public health.
“Among the prominently affected establishments are Smart Bakery, Christ Apostolic Church Mountain of Power Ministry, Larry Shine Hotel, Kinblesh Hotel.
“Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, the General Manager of LASEPA, emphasized the critical importance of businesses and religious centers,  maintaining environmental standards. He reaffirmed the agency’s unwavering commitment to fostering a balanced and sustainable environment for Lagos residents.
“He reiterated LASEPA’s dedication to rigorously enforcing environmental laws, with the aim of ensuring compliance and effectively addressing environmental infractions throughout Lagos State for a health citizenry.”
