Emergence Of New Boat Operators Group A Surprise-ATBOWATON President

President of the Association of Tourist Boat Operators and Water Transporters of Nigeria (ATBOWATON), Dr. Ganiyu Tarzan Balogun has described the emergence of a new boat operators body as a surprise. This is even as he said that the mergence of the new body was not down to the fact that he has remained ATBOWATON President for more than a decade ago.

Speaking with kadecommunicationng on the heels of the emergence of a new boat operators body, Waterfronts Boat Owners and Transporters Association of Nigeria (WABOTAN), Dr. Balogun Tarzan stated that the industry is very wide for new and fresh ideas.

According to Tarzan Balogun, “I am not aware of a new boat operators body. Infact, I am hearing it for the first time today.

“However, it is a welcome development because the industry is wide enough for everybody to bring fresh ideas.”

When asked if the new boat operators association emerged due to the fact that he has refused to step aside as President of ATBOWATON , Dr. Tarzan stated that such allegations cannot be true.

“Severally, I have asked members to elect a new President, but they keep telling me that they are not ready to lead the group.

“Over the years, ATBOWATON has evolved under me. Before our last Annual General Meeting (AGM), I asked members to elect a new President, but they all said they are not ready to lead the group.

“That is the more reason I am surprised that a new group has emerged. But it’s okay. The more, the merrier. If new groups don’t come onboard, how will stakeholders know what ATBOWATON has been doing all this year’s.

“We need new groups to help develop the brown water sector of Nigeria’s maritime industry
