
BIMCO To Hold Webinar On Nigeria’s Post-Election Maritime Security Outlook

The Baltic and International Maritime Council (BIMCO), one of the leading global commercial shipping trade organisation headquartered in Copenhagen is set to hold a webinar to x-ray post-election outlook of maritime security off Nigerian waters.
In a statement on Tuesday, BIMCO said that the webinar which is slated to hold on tbe 13th of March, 2023 will be Chaired by BIMCO’s Head of Maritime Safety & Security, Jakob Larsen.
According to the BIMCO statement headlined: Maritime Security off Nigeria – a post-election outlook, the leading ship owners group stated that, “On 25 February Nigeria held general elections, and as always security featured high on the political agenda.
“The webinar will be chaired by Jakob Larsen, BIMCO’s Head of Maritime Safety & Security, and will feature Risk Intelligence’s Senior Analyst Dirk Siebels who will evaluate the election results and share his assessment of potential impact to the maritime security situation off Nigeria.
“Dirk will also share his insights on Nigerian piracy threat and discuss for example where the pirates operate from, how they plan and conduct their attacks, and what the threat profile looks like for different vessel types.
“With the input from Dirk as the starting point, Jakob Larsen will then explain how ships and crew should plan and execute operations in the area, and also touch on the question of Security Escort Vessels and how to employ them.
“The webinar will conclude with a Q&A session where attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions using the Q&A function in Zoom.
“The webinar starts at 09:00 UTC. Duration: approx. 90 minutes.”
