Air Travellers Call For Caution As Dana Airline Increases Frequency
Fred Omotara, Lagos
Some air Travellers have called for caution by Dana Airline following the airlines increase of it’s daily Lagos-Abuja flight frequency and some other routes.
Recall that Dana Airline over the weekend announced an increase in frequency across it’s destination based on commercial projection and demand.
Speaking with kadecommunicationng exclusively, an air traveller and civil servant, Mrs. Chinyere Obiora called for caution by Dana Airline due to the history of near-mishaps by the airline.
According to Mrs. Obiora, “It’s good that Dana Airline is increasing it’s frequency. However, the airline shouldn’t rush things.
“This is an airline that was grounded just last year by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) due to safety issues noticed on some of it’s aircrafts.
“We are talking of an airline that had one of it’s aircrafts tyres burst into flames during landing operation, and passengers were hurriedly disembarked from the aircraft, all looking terrified.
“Now, all this happened in 2022 and the airline only received approval to resume flight operations towards the tail-end of 2022, and that airline is already talking about increasing frequency five months after. I just pray they are not rushing things because of money.”
Also speaking with Kadecommunicationng, another air traveller, Barrister Kayode Fakorede wondered if the NCAA is aware of the plan to increase frequency.
In the words of Barrister Fakorede, “I remembered Dana Airline was only given the nod to resume flight operations in the last quarter of 2022. I just hope the increment of their flight frequency has regulatory backing?
“I expect the airline to run at it’s present frequency for the next 6 to 8 months to be sure their aircrafts are fully in good condition so that they don’t over-burden the aircrafts with increased schedule.
“If their reason for increasing their frequency is down to commercial projections and demand, they need to exercise patience.
“Their operation was only restored last year November, and it’s important that they don’t overwork the aircrafts “
Dana Airline in a statement at the weekend announced plans to increase its frequency across destinations.
Speaking on the development, the spokesperson of the airline Kingsley Ezenwa said Dana Air upon receipt of some of its aircraft from maintenance started with an abridged schedule but decided to increase frequency based on the airline’s commercial projections and demand.
According to him, ” we have done our projections and based on demands, we have decided to increase our frequency on our Abuja route.”
