Fred Omotara, Lagos
The Honourable Minister of Transportation, Alhaji Mu’azu Jaji Sambo on Thursday toured Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) assets in Lagos in the company of the Honourable Minister of State for Transportation, Prince Ademola Adegoroye and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Magdalene Ajani.
The tour which took the leadership of the Ministry of Transportation to the NRC Control Center where all train activities are monitored, also saw the Minister take a trip to Ibadan from Lagos on the standard gauge train.
Speaking after the tour, Alhaji Mu’azu Sambo declined to reveal the date for the resumption of the Abuja-Kaduna passenger train services, stating that revealing the date won’t help the Abuja-Kaduna passenger train services..
According to Alhaji Mu’azu Jaji Sambo, ” We have said that the Abuja-Kaduna passenger train will commence operations this month. It is not necessary for me to share that date publicly.
“I don’t think that will help in running the service. Today is 17th of November. In less than two weeks, the month will be over. I will implore Nigerians to be patient.”
On the relevance of the Control Centre, the Minister described the facility as the heartbeat of railway services in Nigeria
