Passengers Express Shock At Unidentified Human Remain In Lagos Airport
Fred Omotara, Lagos
Some airline passengers have expressed shock at how an unidentified human remain found its way on the Lagos airport runway 18R/36L.
Speaking to kadecommunicationng exclusively, an Ibom Airline passenger Mrs. Margret Nwosu wondered what could have happened if such discovery had affected flight operations.
According to Mrs. Nwosu, “I really don’t understand what is happening in this country anymore. Aside series of killings as a result of insecurity in the land, dead human remain is now being dumped on the nations airport runway.
“How could the dead body have got to the airport runway? The airport is supposed to be a secured zone. How a dead human remain found its way on the runway still baffles me.”
Also speaking, another passenger scheduled onboard Dana Airline flight to Port Harcourt, Ifeanyi Azuka blamed lapses in security for such development.
In the words of Mr. Azuka, “The unidentified human remain could have been dumped there by some people under the cover of darkness. This shows that our airports are not secured. Where are the security officials that are supposed to secure the Lagos airport?
“If the Lagos airport is not safe, then where is safe in this country? For the unidentified human remain to have found its way on the runway, it means the security around the airport is not there. It shows there is definitely a lapse in security at our airports.”
Recall that the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) on Friday confirmed that an unidentified human remains was found on Runway 18R/36L on Thursday, May 19, 2022, during a routine inspection.
Mrs Faithful Hope-Ivbaze, the Acting General Manager, Corporate Affairs, made this known in a statement made available to journalists in Abuja, saying the body was found during a routine inspection.
The statement indicated, “A motorized cleaner, that was cleared to carry out a cleanup and sweeping of the runway discovered the remains at about 0106hours, and escalated the situation to relevant departments.
“As a result, between 0110 and 0343 hours, the runway was temporarily closed to allow for the immediate evacuation of the remains. Flight operations resumed at 0343 hours
