Get Ready For Major Flight Disruptions, Airlines Tell Nigerians
Fred Omotara, Lagos
Nigerian airlines, under the aegis of the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) on Friday said that there will be major disruptions of flights due to scarcity of aviation fuel, also known as JET-A1.
According to a statement signed by the AON Spokesman, Obiora Okonkwo, the airlines said that operating at full capacity might no longer be feasible due to the scarcity of aviation fuel.
Also, in a related development earlier on Friday, Ibom Airline, one of Nigeria’s commercial airlines announced that due to difficulty in getting aviation fuel, some flights might now be cancelled.
In a statement signed by Ibom Airline General Manager, Marketing and Communication, Aniekan Essienette, the airline said that it will continue to do everything in it’s power to operate flights schedule as close to 100% as possible
“This is to bring to your notice that the growing unavailability of aviation fuel has greatly impacted on our operations, leading to flight delays. At this point, it might now result in some flight cancellations.
“While this situation is unprecedented and disruptive to our value proposition, we assure you that it is as distressing to us as it is to you.
“As Ibom Air, we will continue to do everything in our power to operate our flight schedule as close to 100% as possible while looking forward to normalcy being restored at the earliest,” Ibom Airline stated earlier on Friday
